In his entry, Robert Goldberg writes that "the EU may be eating our continental breakfast in the effort to make drug development more effective and efficient." The European Commission has proposed that companies pay roughly $750 million over 10 years for "process improvements in drug development and regulatory reforms."

"Meanwhile, back home we squabble about spending more to collect an increasing amount of paper about post market safety, shutting down PDUFA and imposing criminal penalties on companies that refuse to complete post market studies that most patients don't want to enroll in," he writes.
