EXPANSIONS SUSTAIN MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY

Puerto Rico's manufacturing industry was sustained during 2004 by expansions, which stimulated economic activity by creating jobs in construction and related industries. Fiscal 2004 ended with a 3 percent increase in manufacturing jobs compared to the 120,000 created in fiscal 2003, according to Planning Board statistics. The industry was sustained in 2004 by a pronounced increase in the health-technology sector, said PRMA Executive Vice President William Riefkohl.
