US-BASED GENENCOR TO BUILD NEW CHINESE MANUFACTURING FACILITY

US-based biotechnology company Genencor International has outlined plans to build a new enzymes manufacturing plant in Wuxi, China. Further, the company has confirmed that it has acquired the remaining 15% interest in Genencor (Wuxi) Bio-products from former joint venture partner, Wuxi Enzyme Factory. The financial terms of the purchase and the new unit's value are undisclosed.

Genencor expects the 20-acre site, where construction is expected to begin in mid-2005 prior to opening in late 2006, to become a key production unit for its protein engineering activities. The plant will also house new customer service and logistics facilities.
