US MANNATECH GAINS SOUTH KOREA PATENT FOR AMBROTOSE PRODUCT
January 17, 2005
South Korea's patent office has issued US-based multilevel marketing company Mannatech with a license for its Ambrotose product. The substance is described as a plant saccharides-based glyconutritional intended to stimulate the immune system. Mannatech claims that it has 16 patents for its product in developed markets worldwide.
However, some reports indicate that the company, which in the US is allegedly prevented under federal law from claiming that Ambrotose benefits any specific condition, has simply been allowed entry to another potentially lucrative consumer health market.
