FIRM RECALLS ATTENTION-DEFICIT DRUG
January 17, 2005
A pharmaceutical company has issued a nationwide recall of approximately 500 bottles of a drug used to treat attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder and narcolepsy. One lot of Methylin chewable tablets in 5-mg strength may contain as much as three times the active ingredient, Alliant Pharmaceuticals said in a recent statement. The Alpharetta, Ga.-based company voluntarily recalled the drug after testing and evaluation. The company said that medication from the lot could pose serious health risk for some patients.
