Merck CEO Says No Bankruptcy, Merger on Horizon

There is no way Merck will have to declare bankruptcy over pending Vioxx litigation, nor is it considering a major merger, the company's chief declared. In an interview with MarketWatch, Chairman and Chief Executive Raymond Gilmartin contended the strength of Merck's cash flow, coupled with conservative management, will keep the pharmaceutical giant financially sound.
