Dr. Reddy's Initiates Clinical Trials of Its Cardiovascular Drug in Ireland

February 8, 2005

Dr. Reddy's Laboratories has initiated Phase I clinical trials for its cardiovascular drug candidate RUS 3108.

The clinical trails are being conducted in Belfast, Ireland, and will explore the safety and pharmacokinetic profiles of this drug candidate in humans. This is the first time the company is testing a drug in Europe.

RUS 3108 is being developed for the treatment of atherosclerosis, the major cause of cardiovascular disorders such as heart attacks and stroke. Cardiovascular disease is a leading cause of death worldwide. There are currently no drugs on the market that directly treat atherosclerosis, the company said.
