State Sues Pharmaceutical Companies

Illinois joined at least 18 other states when it filed a lawsuit accusing dozens of pharmaceutical companies of overcharging Medicare and Medicaid. The lawsuit, filed by Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan in Cook County Circuit Court, accuses nearly 50 companies of intentionally inflating average wholesale prices for their drugs -- prices used by the state to determine payments for prescriptions.
