GSK Sues Over Rival Anti-Smoking Product
February 10, 2005
The Pittsburgh-area subsidiary of British drugmaker GlaxoSmithKline has filed a lawsuit against Nicodrops to stop the California company from making what it says are false claims about Nicodrops' anti-smoking product. GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare of Moon Township, a unit of GSK which markets the smoking-cessation gum Nicorette, claims Nicodrops of La Mesa, Calif., is advertising its anti-smoking lozenge, also called Nicodrops, as "a safe and effective therapy for smoking cessation" although "there is no proof that any herbal ingredient in Nicodrops" has been tested.
