Mentor Launches New Genesis Product Line

Mentor has announced the U.S. launch of its new Genesis product line for the treatment of erectile dysfunction.

The Genesis malleable penile prosthesis features Mentor's covalently bonded hydrophilic coating that allows physicians to select the optimum antibiotic regime for each patient.

"The hydrophilic surface of the Genesis implant provides surgeons the option to choose which antibiotic the device is immersed in intra-operatively, giving the implanting surgeon distinct advantages with this new product," said Wayne Hellstrom, professor of urology and chief of andrology at Tulane University School of Medicine.

Mentor is the only company in the U.S. with a complete line of coated products for the treatment of erectile dysfunction, including the Titan range of inflatable penile prostheses and the Genesis range of malleable penile prostheses, the company said. The company anticipates receiving European approval and launching Genesis within the next 60 days.
