Encore Medical Buys Out Competitor

Encore Medical shelled out $14.5 million to purchase the assets of competitor Osteoimplant Technology of Baltimore, which makes spinal, hip and knee implants. There are also up to $1.5 million in future milestone payments that could be earned by OTI based on the performance of OTI's product line, according to Encore, an Austin, Texas-based company.
