Japan's Eisai Establishes New Subsidiary in Italy

Japanese drugmaker Eisai has set up a new subsidiary in Italy, enhancing its existing European presence in the UK, France, Germany and Spain. The new wholly-owned company, to be known as Eisai Srl, will market the Japanese firm's anti-epileptic drug Zonegran (candesartan), for which the company has submitted an EMEA marketing application. A submission for another anti-epileptic, rufinamide, is to be filed later in the year.
