Nordic Capital Stake Purchase Values Nycomed at EUR1.8 Billion

Nordic Capital Fund V has agreed to acquire a controlling interest in Danish pharmaceutical company Nycomed, Nycomed said in a statement Friday. DLJ Merchant Banking, part of CSFB's alternative capital division, and the Blackstone Group are selling the majority of their stake in the company to Nordic Capital, in a transaction that values Nycomed at EUR1.8 billion. The transaction will be paid in part with a EUR400 million pay-in-kind note that is being arranged by Credit Suisse First Boston and Goldman Sachs (GS).
