Former HHS Secretary to Take On Two Private Sector Positions

Former HHS Secretary Tommy Thompson has accepted two positions in the private sector - one with law firm Akin Gump Strauss and another with consulting firm Deloitte & Touche, the companies recently announced.

Thompson, who retired from HHS late last year, will serve as a partner at Akin Gump Strauss and as a senior adviser and independent chairman of the Deloitte Center for Health Care Management and Transformation.

In both roles, Thompson will focus on developing solutions for clients in the healthcare industry, as well as for companies doing business in the public sector.

"I look forward to working with Akin Gump Strauss and Deloitte & Touche as they each explore and develop creative solutions to healthcare challenges facing individuals, communities, governments and businesses in America and promote advances in healthcare around the world," Thompson said.
