Dainippon, Zoegene Conclude Joint Research Agreement

Dainippon Pharmaceutical and Zoegene jointly announced on March 23 that they have entered into a joint research agreement in the fields of diabetes and obesity. Based on compounds developed by Zoegene, Dainippon Pharmaceutical will conduct further research in order to synthesize a candidate compound for antiobesity and antidiabetic drugs with a new action mechanism. Zoegene, wholly owned by Mitsubishi Chemical, has accumulated expertise in protein analysis and compound design, as well as established unique technologies to synthesize compounds, whose effectiveness is confirmed in cell and animal experiments.
