Hansen Acquires endoVia

Hansen Medical, of Mountain View, Calif., has bought the assets of endoVia Medical. Most of the assets consist of intellectual property, such as 33 issued and pending patents and patent applications. Based in Norwood, Mass., endoVia was working on minimally invasive instruments and surgical robotics. Hansen was founded in 2002 to develop technology to help doctors better manipulate catheters by combining robotic technology and computerized movement. One of its products in the making is an electromechanical catheter manipulator which a doctor controls with commands from a workstation.
