MNC Drug Arms Scout for Local Marketing Pacts

Indian subsidiaries of multinational drug companies are on the lookout for in-licensing and marketing alliances with other foreign pharmaceutical companies for promoting and distributing their products in the country. This is interpreted as the first move by siblings of pharma MNCs to open up a new revenue stream to bolster their topline and bottomline as some of their flagship brands are expected to fetch lower revenues in the coming years. The move comes soon after India switched to a new TRIPS-compliant product patent regime.
