Sankyo, MerLion Sign Joint Pharmaceutical Research Deal

Sankyo said it has sealed a three-year joint research contract with unlisted MerLion Pharmaceuticals Pte of Singapore aimed at developing drugs made from compounds of natural substances. MerLion will conduct screening of natural substances of microbial and plant origin in its sample library using Sankyo's evaluation system, while the Japanese drugmaker will try to commercialize promising compounds, Sankyo said in a statement.
