Ono Stops U.S. Trials of Stroke Drug Proglia

May 27, 2005

Japan's Ono Pharmaceuticals said on Thursday it had decided to stop U.S. clinical studies on its acute stroke drug Proglia, on which it had given overseas rights to Merck & Co. The decision followed a recommendation by the independent Data Safety Monitoring Board, which suggested the interim analysis of the studies was highly unlikely to show significant efficacy of the drug. Ono added it made the decision after consulting Merck.
