ELI LILLY LICENSES TAISHO DIABETES DRUG

Drug maker Eli Lilly said Wednesday that it signed a licensing agreement with Japanese drug maker Taisho Pharmaceutical to eventually market a novel Type 2 diabetes treatment currently in development. Under the agreement, Lilly gets exclusive rights to develop and market Taisho's TS-021, a diabetes treatment that inhibits an enzyme responsible for breaking down a hormone crucial to maintaining blood sugar levels.
