TAKEDA LATEST FIRM TO LAUNCH ONLINE CLINICAL TRIALS REGISTRY

Takeda Pharmaceuticals is the latest drug manufacturer to launch an online clinical trials registry. The Japanese firm, which has U.S. headquarters in Lincolnshire, Ill., said earlier this week it would begin disclosing late phase clinical data on both its Japanese and North American websites.

Clinical trials completed on or after Jan. 6, 2005, will be posted on the site and will include the product name, clinical phase (mostly Phase III and IV trials), purpose and methods, number of patients, endpoint, and statistics. In addition, Phase III and IV clinical trials initiated on or after July 1, 2005, will be posted and will include the development code, target disease and purpose. The protocol summary for this second category will be disclosed 21 days after patient enrollment has begun, Takeda said.
