GENTIUM S.P.A. ANNOUNCES EXERCISE OF OVER-ALLOTMENT OPTION

Gentium S.p.A. (AMEX: GNT) (the "Company") announced that the underwriters of its initial public offering of June 16, 2005 have exercised their over-allotment option to purchase an additional 300,000 of the Company's American Depositary Shares (ADSs), at a price of $9.00. Gentium received gross proceeds of $2.7 million from the exercise of this option. To date, the underwriters have purchased a total of 2,700,000 ADSs. Maxim Group LLC and I-Bankers Securities Incorporated served as co-managers of the offering.
