Medidata Quarterly Revenues More than Double

May 9, 2006

Medidata Solutions, which provides electronic data capture (EDC), management and reporting solutions, announced revenue growth of 152 percent in the first quarter of 2006 compared to the corresponding period of last year. This marked the 21st quarter of consecutive growth for the firm. The company said that international business, which included six new customers, was the primary driver of its revenue growth. Medidata also reported a 147 percent increase in backlog compared to last year.

The first quarter saw the beginning of 55 new clinical trials using Medidata’s Rave EDC platform. Medidata introduced the latest version of this software during the quarter — Rave 5.5, which is designed to streamline global trials and simplify processes for investigators and customers. The software features multilingual capabilities, complex security and workflow requirements, scalability and the ability to cover trials running in widely separated geographical regions simultaneously.
