SHIRE TO INTRODUCE NEW UK-LISTED HOLDING CO TO CREATE DISTRIBUTABLE RESERVES

Shire Pharmaceuticals Group PLC is proposing to introduce a new UK-listed holding company and reduce the new company's share capital to create distributable reserves, a move which Shire says will aid the payment of dividends. Shire said the proposals will increase the distributable reserves available to the holding company from 87 mln stg at Dec 31, 2004 to approximately 1.65 bln stg.
