FOAMIX LAUNCHES TRIAL OF TERBIFOAM FOR ATHLETE'S FOOT

September 12, 2005

Foamix will begin a Phase II, placebo-controlled clinical trial of TerbiFoam for the treatment of athlete's foot. The study will include 30 patients.

Athlete's foot, or tinea pedis, is a fungal infection that can grow and multiply on human skin, especially the feet. It grows best in a dark, moist, and warm environment, such as in a closed shoe. Athlete's foot causes the skin to peel, dry, scale and blister, inducing swelling, burning and intensive itching, detracting from quality of life of those inflicted. In the U.S. alone, 5.6 million prescriptions for antifungal treatments such as TerbiFoam are filled annually.
