SAVIENT ANNOUNCES CHANGES TO THE BOARD

East Brunswick-based Savient Pharmaceuticals has announced that Lee S. Simon, Alan L. Heller and Joseph Klein III will seek the positions of independent directors of the firm during a May 23 election. The trio will run for slots vacated by current chairman Jeremy Hayward-Surry, Herbert Weissbach and Carl Kaplan, who have retired from the board or announced plans to step down.
