WYETH LAUNCHES IPD VACCINE IN INDIA

Wyeth has launched Prevenar, its blockbuster seven-valent pediatrics vaccine for invasive pneumococcal disease (IPD), in India, the company announced.
Prevenar is a pneumoccocal conjugate vaccine for infants and toddlers that protects against diseases like meningitis, bacteril pneumonia, septicaemia and bacteria in blood (bacteraemia). The vaccine is administered in three doses to children below the age of two years, with booster dose at 12 to 15 months.
Global sales of Prevenar are expected to reach $2 billon in 2006.
