FDA APPROVES TARO'S GENERIC METROGEL

Israeli generic drugmaker Taro Pharmaceutical Industries has said it received clearance from the FDA for its new drug application for metronidazole topical gel USP, 0.75 percent.

Metronidazole gel is a prescription product used to treat rosacea. The company said it is the bioequivalent to MetroGel Topical Gel, 0.75 percent, made by Galderma Laboratories.

MetroGel 0.75 percent and 1 percent strengths achieved combined U.S. sales of more than $20 million in the first quarter.
