In his entry, Stephen Albainy-Jenei discusses a study released last week by the Tufts Center for the Study of Drug Development saying that that the average cost of developing a new biotechnology product is $1.2 billion.

Similarly, another study shows that "the cost per patient of running Phase III clinical studies of new pharmaceuticals now exceeds $26,000, on average, according to a report, 'Clinical Operations: Accelerating Trials, Allocating Resources and Measuring Performance,' published by Cutting Edge Information," he points out.
