Becton Dickinson Announces U.S. Launch of Pen Needle
March 30, 2007
BD Medical-Diabetes Care, a unit of Becton Dickinson (BD), announced the U.S. launch of its BD AutoShield Pen Needle.
The pen needle can be used with all insulin pens and dosers available in the U.S., as well as with other drugs available in pens, the firm said.
According to the company, the device offers:
A universal fit -- the pen fits all U.S. insulin pens and dosers, so there is no need to stock multiple types of pen needles;
Reduction of accidental injuries without compromising the injection technique; and
Patient benefit -- the AutoShield, with its broad shield diameter and BD needle technology, is designed to reduce skin pressure to ensure a more comfortable injection.
